Help raise funds for Drighlington Community Library

You can help us receive up to £4000 via a grant through the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.  The stores where you can put a blue token in the slot for Drighlington Community Library everytime you shop can be found at:

Birstall Express 3 Smithies Ln Birstall, Batley WF17 9EH

Cleckheaton 49 Northgate, Cleckheaton BD19 3HS

Any money raised this way will be used to update the Children’s area with new furniture and relevant books and learning activities for different ages.

The Library believes that “The whole community benefits if its children are provided with resources to grow and develop”

Voting is open in the Birstall Express and Cleckheaton stores throughout September and October. Customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.  If you don’t receive one, please ask for one and place it in the Drighlington Community Library slot.

Miller Homes Approved

Unfortunately, the planning for the 208 houses on Pity Close farm was today passed, we tried our best to object the application but it came down to a 4 against and 4 for, the chairladies vote swayed to ‘Aye’.

This is not the last stand, we are in discussions with certain parties about objecting to the application, further details to follow.

It was sickening as two of the ‘ayes’ were from LCC councillors that don’t live anywhere near the village.

We live to fight another day!
